Our Management Team
Co-CEO — MacGregor Read began his career in the food industry with Lucky Stores in 1986. After graduating from the University of Pacific, he worked for Del Monte Foods as a product manager. In 1996 he joined GOI where he advanced through several positions within the company until ultimately becoming the vice president of real estate and construction in 2004, responsible for the most aggressive new store growth in the history of the Company.
Co-CEO — Eric Lindberg's career at GOI also began in 1996. After starting in store operations, his career has taken him through the entire purchasing department: dry grocery, perishables, and GM/HBC. Lindberg was promoted to vice president of purchasing in 2001, where he has managed a team of 26 professionals. He holds a degree in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College.
Group VP and CFO — Mike Ward joined GOI in 1990 and started The Internal Audit Department, responsible for all accounting functions of the company. He was promoted in 1998 to VP of Finance. In 2001 he was promoted to CFO and is currently responsible for the entire finance operations of the company. Previously he was President and CEO of Meyers Jewelers. Mike is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration and he holds a C.P.A. License.
VP Recruiting & Training — Frank Bilbao joined the company in 1993 as Regional Operations Manager. He is responsible for training, customer service and recruiting for 124 stores. Prior to joining GOI, he worked with Shell Oil, Delta Lines and Northern Automotive as VP Operations Manager. He holds an MBA degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and a BS from the University of Nevada, Reno.
VP Real Estate — Marc Drasin joined the company in February of 2002. He began his real estate career with Greatscott! Supermarkets of Michigan as Assistant Secretary. At PETCO, Marc opened 600 stores, and took the company from 4 states to 41 states and 2 provinces, acquiring 19 other companies along the way. Prior to GOI he was with Blockbuster assisting them with a real estate turnaround. Marc has a degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. He attended Graduate School at Washington University, St. Louis in Chinese on a scholarship and teaching fellowship.
Director of Purchasing — Paul Miller began his retail career with Safeway Stores in 1986. He joined the Grocery Outlet buying group in 1994 where he advanced through various buying positions of increasing responsibility. He left GOI to join a startup company as Director of Purchasing in 2000 where he helped open 80 single-price-point stores. He rejoined GOI in 2002 as Director of Purchasing, where he currently oversees and manages all aspects of Deli, Produce, General Merchandise, Health & Beauty Care and Wholesale operations. He holds a Marketing Degree from Santa Clara University with a Minor in Retail Management.
VP Operations — Chuck Moore began his career with GOI in 1989 working in operations and then headed up logistics and distribution. He is responsible for overseeing store construction and planning. Previously he was with Lucky Stores for eighteen years in a variety of positions, starting as a grocery bagger, moving into management and finally overseeing special projects for Lucky. He holds a Certificate in Management Training from JFK University.
VP Information Technology — Jeff Oki began his career with GOI as a retail clerk at the Berkeley store in 1973, later managing a store and distribution facility during his first 10 years with the company. He has led the strategy for GOIs Information Systems for nearly 20 years. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, with a Bachelors Degree in Economics, he has also completed the Technology Leadership program at Santa Clara University in 1996, and is a member of the following IT organizations: Society of Information Managers (SIM), Cambridge Information Network CIN) and Chief Officer, a community exchange for both IT and Senior Executives.
VP Supply Chain — Mike Thomas joined Grocery Outlet in 2004. Prior to joining the company he was Regional VP for Christian Salvesen. Earlier in his career he managed third party retail contracts for Kroger and Marks & Spencer, the largest retail chain in the UK. He holds a degree in Economics from Durham University, UK. Originally from Liverpool England, he moved to the U.S. in 1986.
VP Purchasing — Steve Wilson began his career with Grocery Outlet in 1994 as a Buyer, with subsequent promotions to Director of Produce, Frozen Foods, Specialty Foods and Director of Purchasing. Prior to joining Grocery Outlet, Steve was the Regional Sales Manager for Pepsico in Northern California for 5 years, where he was responsible for managing sales and overseeing the sales organization for the region. He holds a BS Degree in Economics from Lafayette College, Pennsylvania.
VP Marketing — Melissa Porter joined the Grocery Outlet team in 2007. She brings extensive grocery industry experience at the senior level, including prior positions as Senior Director of Retail Marketing for Wild Oats Markets and Director of Sales & Marketing for Central Market., H-E-B Grocery Company's fresh food concept. During her tenure at these companies, Melissa's innovations increased market footprints and improved sales by using new technology, integrated media strategies and creative events. Her grocery background marries with her experience as a CPA at Arthur Andersen to offer excellent understanding of business finances. Melissa holds a BA in Accounting from the University of New Mexico.
